funeral director tips
Being a funeral director can keep you very busy, the best advice I can give is set time aside for yourself.
Three Rules
One. No proselytizing: Religious belief, spirituality and nonbelief are sacred. because they are sacred, we respect them. Because they are sacred we don't push them on others.
Two. No Advertising: DEATHub is a space where we can talk about personal stories, personal feelings and ideas. Those stories, feelings and ideas won't be exploited for personal or corporate gain.
Three. No Assholes: DEATHub only works if we are understanding and empathetic in our posts, comments, and when we're incidentally offended by another. We are a group that is full of good people, who have deep and sensitive stories. This is a place for those stories.
Any tips for new funeral workers?
Hey, in sum I've graduated a year ago and I'm already starting to do almost everything but funeral counseling, which means I do embalming, cremations, transports, funeral directing and other tasks. I've been in dire need of being understood through the path of learning, as I work with older colleagues who do not relate with my situation. As a young grasshopper in my 20's, constantly falling with minor mistakes here and there that however accumulates over time, especially amongst colleagues, as well as having a lot to learn to just even get to a base of knowledge, do you have any tips for new people in the domain?
I'd like to know if it took you years to master something like mouth formation to dealing with families in tragic grief, or hell if it took you years to even just grasp your job, because I'm having a tough time even focusing at work when I am in constant fear of forgetting something or doing something wrong under little time.
I loved by the way the comment I once saw on your Facebook page saying 'You can take care of a thousand details, but if you miss one, everyone will look at that one.' , it's just so true.
Oh and, a sidenote question, what is your opinion on funeral cooperatives?
Thank you so much.
